I have my spots... what are yours?
Aside from the venue and record stores.

Haven't flyered in a looong time, but here is what I remember:
IPFW bulletin boards (inside and outside of buildings)
Stuffing Whatzup mags at grocery stores
Handing over a stack or two to girlfriends and/or band ho of the month (didn't care where they put them, just as long as they took them)
Occasionally parking lot windshields (usually when it got close to the show and didn't want to come back with a stack)
Bulletin boards in grocery/department stores (make sure to bring stapler and make it quick)
That about covers what I remember doing/participating in...

That's a pretty damn good idea, deek. I can't believe I've never thought of it.

Not without thier permission.
They charge for that (advertising) and you are essentially taking money from them.
I know I would be unhappy.
Call them first, no reason the taint a working relationship.

Okay, just put your flyers in between the issues, not inside them.

I was not condoning the activity...just sharing what we used to do in a band I was in, say, 10-11 years ago. We were all between 20 and 23 years old, were not overly social (outside of our clique) and avoided confrontation as much as possible. Flyering was normally an activity done late at night and more of a guerilla tactic than anything else.
I'd hope that "serious" bands wouldn't resort to such tactics.

My band used to do this too. Didn't really think of it in terms of advertising dollars lost for the mag. We would also steal all of the apartment guides from one slot in the rack of freebies and replace them with whatever flyers we had left over.

I wasn't going to admit to doing that, but we did it all the time, too. Again, it certainly wasn't cool to be the only guy in the band coming back with a stack of flyers...

Not such a good idea.
That means you're not advertising in Whatzup...and therefore won't get nominated for a Whammy.
