Those were the days when often times the bass was as much a novelty to the act as an actual musical component. Technology was such that you were lucky to hear the bass past the bandstand. Bassists had to do something to earn their pay. There are people that are truly talented and are driven to explore the boundries and push the limits of what can be done. As one goes past these boundries and (former) limits, they find vehicles to express what they have found. So, you just don't worry your pretty little head and stay with your Playstation.
