Let's start a dialogue about this... and see if there is interest in getting something like this started.

Okay, now tell us folk that aren't "in the know" what the f**k you're talking about? MMS? SXSW? FBI? LSD? TNA? PDA? FFA?

If you're serious, I suggest you head down to MMS in Indy next month and take in the WHOLE thing (all the day panels, "industry events", nightly showcases, etc. and see what works and what doesn't work, and how to differentiate yourself. Most people you ask around here about MMS will tell you it SUCKS, and that is partially true, but mainly from a showcase perspective. They actually do an incredible job of lining up industry folks for the seminars, panels, etc during the day, all of which are so sparsely attended it's pitiful.

My two cents are that if you want to showcase local music and add one or two big headliners, it can be done here and is a good idea. But if you want to do the same thing they're doing in Indy -- and have a conference -- I don't think it's a good idea. They're too close (chronologically and geographically).

I think it would be a great idea, but as mentioned above, and I think it would be best to make it a music showcase, so to say.

Having a serious music conference such as SXSW would be a big undertaking for the Fort Wayne musical community which is not known
for being particularly cooperative amongst the various factions of players,i.e. rockers, jazzers, folkies, punkers, etc. Each genre seems to exist unto itself here in Fort Wayne. Yet I think such an undertaking if you had a group of people experienced in producing events, not just concerts would be a good idea for the Fort Wayne musical scene in general.

On that note count me in as being willing to be involved.
