Maybe people are just waking up to the fact that, geez guys, maybe they just aren't that talented.

Probably a little of both. But they are a walking gimmick. ooh, the girl can play four instruments... Yes, she can play a pentatonic run on all four instruments. yippee. They're getting older, have lost some of that youthful beauty and they were never that talented to begin with. The gimmick has worn thin. tick, tick, tick, your 15 minutes are just about over.

...or could it be they have the #1 album in America?

I have to say they must be doing something right.

Well, Jay, album sales are the number of discs that retailers order for their stores, not how many are actually sold. Of course retailers are going to order a sh*tload of copies the first week, they are an established act. They most likely over-ordered. The real test is in the ticket sales and that's why analysts are giving them grief.

Zach this is their second week at number one. If all those 'early bird' sales were due to the stores filling their shelves why are they on top for a second week?

From the Dixie Chicks website:
MESSAGE FROM NATALIE, EMILY & MARTIE:

To our Fans:
Any reports being made about the cancellation of our upcoming Accidents And Accusations tour are completely false.

We have known since March 2003 that our path in this business would have obstacles at every pass. We have enjoyed meeting each one head-on and we will continue to do so. Dixie Chicks fans are as active and dedicated as they come. This time around we are willingly feeling our way through unchartered territory. Things don't come as easy as they might have come in the past, and it makes each accomplishment more exciting and appreciated.

We will go where the fans are with great anticipation and no regrets. To find out (along with us) where that is, visit www.dixiechicks.com for all updates to Accidents And Accusations tour information.

Love, The Chicks
So even if it isn't huge they're still on tour. Once again I say they must be doing something right.

Okay, and I say they are on their way towards Creed-ville, USA. Just like Staind.

Also, our store, usually a pretty strong country buying population shops here, has sold 4 copies in the past two weeks. Also, I have had two people sell me their's back already.

In contrast, we sold 30 copies of Tool in two days and no one has brought it back.

Tool sucks.

the reason that you may not have sold as many dixie chicks albums as you have tool (who suck) may be due to several factors

1) this is indiana - a conservative state ... this is ft wayne - city of churches ... apparently the chicks said some negative things about the sitting president and its had a negative effect on their image and fanbase

2) people may have purchased the album at best buy (which offered an exclusive extra track on the album) for a less exspensive price

3) the sort of folk who would purchase this album in spite of the rhetoric aimed at dubya more than likely shop at places like barnes and noble and.or borders

all i know for sure - tool sucks

I agree. Tool SUCKS!

They should go away and make more room for bands full of kids who can't play their instruments and can't write their own songs without a "producer", but know how to wear the clothes their wardrobe people pick out so they look cool in Tiger Beat and Rolling Stone.

I know you don't. And the first part was sarcasm as well. You may not like tool and that's your call, but to say they suck is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. That is why I felt the need to point out how things could be much worse. To each his own.

Cheers!
