We are so incredibly fortunate to have a great guitarist in Greg Titzer.
So, I'm just curious. How many of you think I should put down the guitar adn just be a front man?

I'm seriously interested in your opinion.
Thanx,

Speaking from a purely technical point?
That extra guitar adds another aural layer the would be missed.
Be it either a crunchy rhythm or a finessed acoustic.
It's not like you suck at it either.
Keep it. You can always set it down on the songs that dont *need* it.

Shawn,
When did you start playing guitar?

In all seriousness......I agree with Markus - keep the 2nd guitar. Nothing sounds better than the crunch of a Les Paul holding down the groove.

From a fan of live music's standpoint (and a non-musician)...keep the 2nd guitar. It drives me crazy when the lead singer of a band doesn't play an instrument.

I say it depends on the kind of music you're playing. There are many great 4-piece bands that have frontmen who don't need to play guitar.
Graverobber doesn't seem to need two guitars because they seem to mostly play the same part, and you guys mostly play pretty straightforward power chord rhythm parts, but Migraines could probably keep 2 guitars.

To Shawn: Play where it helps the music, but don't play just to play. . .and don't not play just to not play. Think first of the song. Think next of performance. Beyond that, what really matters?
At The Dude: That is one of the most angering statements you have ever made. EVERY lead singer plays an instrument. Not only do they play an instrument, but they play an instrument that requires them to remember words, properly breathe, hit the correct notes, sustain notes, inflect notes, and manage to harmonize with every other instrument (tonally or rhythmically) in the band.
Singing CAN be very hard work requiring a great degree of skill, training, and talent. It shouldn't be dismissed.

And that's why powerhouse singers like Plant, Cornell, etc. tend not to want to focus on playing an extra instrument at the same time.

Like I said...from a non-musician's standpoint. The voice to me is not an instrument. You're a vocalist...you'd surely disagree. I don't enjoy watching someone stand behind the microphone, swaying their hips like Axel Rose and singing. It's not my thing. Never has been, never will be.
Sorry (not really) if you don't agree, but that's the way I feel and I couldn't give 2 sh*ts less if you agree or not.

And by the way...it doesn't hold true for me 100% of the time, either. It's just what I prefer. There are definitely exceptions.

Does the Axel Hip Sway make you question your sexuality?

Well, yes...yes, it does. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

If Shawn's going to be shaking around the stage like Axel Rose.......uh........man, definitely stick with the guitar.
