For those of you not familiar w/ CDBaby.com, its a online store that hosts a multitude of CDs by various artists and genres from around the world...Starting today our album will be featured on the website's FRONT PAGE after being selected as one of the recent best from the CDBaby editing staff...They also wrote this review of The Others:
This trio flexes a style they call "Boom Box Hip Hop," and they define it like this: "Hip hop that hearkens back to a time where there was a balance of style and substance in the music." With this mission statement in hand, they've taken their sound to the streets, standing up to the current state of hip hop with a strength and intelligence that can't be denied. Backed by beat heavy, classic soul sampled production, the focus here is on lyrics and movement, articulating ideals that are clearly being shoved to the side in the modern stratosphere of rap. It isn't a forceful, revolutionary approach, and it doesn't need to be. They shed preaching in favor of pragmatism, citing a time when hip hop music was art and culture, not a factory churning out cookie cutter MC's by the dozen. It's refreshing and heavy, a clear reminder that there's still conscious lyricism flowing through the veins of MC's that are fed up with the low brow posturing that is sadly superseding the artistic integrity in hip hop. The rap game's playing field needs more teams like this.
