I think the place use to be a great place. Its kind of over priced now.

I think everyones on Kent ass becasue they are jealous of him. I have
heard 4 a year that some other people where taking over. I heard them talk about getting paid and getting offices and sh*t like that. I beleave those people are the ones who just want book shows to look like king sh*t of turd city. I think they need to get over it. They need to help the music scene and not the bands they play in or are friends with !!

As for Kent i think hes doing a fine job at sunset. hes the one keeping the all age side open!! Hes the one who has done shows for like 4 or five years at sunset. Hes the one who pays for adds in whatz up etc. So get off the guys ass. Your all just jealous of hes style. He knows what hes doing and i wish him nothing but luck. We would be glad to play any show for him or to help the real person behind sunset CLEM!!!!!!!! So i guess punkrocknight.com is on Kents side so eat Our FU(C)kS !!Go on and do something that betters the sscene and not yourselfs. I know that will be hard for you guys to do, but try!!

the price is steep if you wanna keep the cover low & not loose your ass.

anyone that does any bookings or shows always falls subject to scrutiny, which sucks, though.

it's easier to knock others than do something yourself.

False, Matt Brown and I were doing the shows out there and were (along with some others, band members ..exc) the actual ones that got Sunset up and running again by getting acts like Horse the Band and what not in there. He got all the credit for that and we were kicked out on false accusations of theft (still blows my mind that after what i did for them they think i would steal from them). Kent ha only been there a little over a year. I commend hime for the promotion he does but thats about all I have seen good come from him.

Then when I was asked to come back he trashed talked me to the owner so he wouldnt loose his position.

He screws bands on pay from what I heard. He has a horrible temper with bands who ask questions about money. When he proposed the complex moving in there to me at a meeting he made it very clear that he wasnt going to step on my toes, hmm then within a week I was out.

Bottom line something new needs to be done with Sunset ( I personally want nothing to do with ) but someone who isnt suing everyone (kent) and who just cares about the music.

Sunset has all sorts of potential but the current management is not up to par and will make the place fail.

To those using Sunset:
I have worked with Kent numerous times and everthing has been great. I also can't imagine Kent "losing his temper" when dealing with bands. He is very mild mannered and quite quiet. No disrespect meant if you are reading this Kent, but he's not that big of a guy, so I can gaurantee he is not puxshing people around and using intimidation tactics to steal money from ANYONE.

Here is a good idea, if you think a promtoer is screwing you over, work the door yourself. I am sure there a million other things promoters would rather be doing than sit at the door at your show.

Lastly, throw a successful show. Make Sunset the money you promise them, and put the rest in your pocket and be happy.

Peace.
Jake

One word. Two syllables. Sounds like schmontract.

Get your deal in writing and make sure EVERYONE understands the terms. If you don't, you're an idiot and deserve to get whatever you get.

Getting a gig @ sunset hall

I'm trying to get a band a gig there, but I'm just stepping into the music business. Any advice? I've emailed Kent twice, and he hasn't replied, but I'm sure he gets a lot of emails everyday. How much is the deposit? etc... Thanks.

Your best bet in this town is to talk to someone in person.

Very little business is successfully conducted over email. If you want in, go t a show, give them a press kit, and secure an agreement right then if you can.

Ask anyone in Downbreed how much we were PAID??????? Never a single forking dime. Kent is a fornicatin' thief, and a backstabber. Oh, but he seems nice to you??? Wait. He will f**k you, given a chance. On the other hand, he can promote a show. But make sure, if you do use him, to GET IT IN WRITING..... And, yes, he will get a serious attitude with you if you question him about money, I've been on the receiving end. I've found the best way to deal with a bully, is to be a bully. Works. Kent don't f**k with me anymore.
