how many people out there would support a legal wall for me as well as fellow graffiti writers to paint on? would you sign a petition? come to a city board meeting? i'll do what i can to make this happen.

I would definately support it. It's just like building a skatepark so that the skaters have someplace to do their thing. I don't want to see anybody disrespecting each other by covering up other peoples tags though...!

Screw the city get the money together and make your own private wall and tell the city to eat a fat one

I'll try to help yall out as best as I can.. I've been brainstormin about it for quite some time now. I've actually been thinkin about purchasing a wall like Kimaliz mentioned, but the city has its loopholes. I can tell you some stories about wack manuevers that were pulled by the city on the graf writers before yall. This is the kind of stuff you'll need to start lookin at before jumpin into it:

Many summers ago, when Science Central was hotter than a 90+ degree day with 90% humidity. The building has a large, concrete, wall that surrounds the property line on Clinton. Science Central thought it would be cool to have graffiti writers and whatnot 'decorate' the wall.

To make a long story short, after work, sweat, blood, and paint, the wall was finished. Then the city came in, mentioned "zones" and the religious right mentioned "ugly" and they painted over it.

Now I don't know if the pressure to paint over the art came from the city, or the public, but it just goes to show what the Fort will do to keep graffiti out of site. (because, as we all know, out of site is out of mind)

Science Central was painted by CDK-Creative Devil Kids, the paint and supplies were all purchased by Science Central. The wall itself was doomed to crumble before they even started. I have hours upon hours of the actual footage of CDK paintin the wall back in 96. New Wave Sound also payed CDK to paint their building and provided the materials to do so. It stood for about 3 weeks before a man came to the police about the sign regulation and once again the city forced them to repaint their building to the color it is today. The funny thing is peeps always say, "These graf writers should do legal stuff instead of out vandalizing things", yet when they do legal jobs the city still tears it down. As long as the writers are still writing and fighting the system then graffiti still lives here. Things will get better in time. Things will get better. Things will get better. BOMB THE FORT!!!
