If you read the book, don't see this movie. If you haven't read the book, it was awesome. YAY!

This story was FINE as it was. . .but they butchered it for NO GOOD REASON and changed MAJOR plot elements and omitted an entire THIRD of the novel from this story. . .

People should let me make movies.

What they should do is not make movies out of well known or classic action/adventure/fantasy/etc. books unless they are willing to give them the LOTR treatment, ie., putting as much detail as they can from the book into the movie even if it means going to 3 hours or more and also filming extra scenes to be included in the DVD release.

IMHO, they should have done this with the Harry Potter movies among others.

I hope they never make any movies out of the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series, because they would destroy it. A TV series however, would definitely be a good alternative to film. With as much material as is in those books you could easily get at least 3 or 4 seasons out of what's been written so far...

I would LOVE to see a TV series of the Wheel of Time series. I just hope Robert Jordan gets to finish the series. I found a site that he does a blog for and he has a some sort of blood disorder.

Man, it's not just jumpy. . .it's downright NOT the same forking story.

You can tell the same story through omission. I get that. It's Hollywood. You have only a certain slot of time. I understand that. They have totally ignored the theme and plot of the books. They have changed things that didn't need to be changed for ANY reason. . .and they have changed things that should not have been changed because they COMPLETELY go against the events that actually occurred in the novel.

It's a shame because the movie itself is actually really good, but it should not be called Eragon except that the characters and places have the same names. It's like the Law and Order of Eragon.

It was terrible editing and sub-par acting. At least the dragon and magic effects were good.

I don't know about sub-par acting. . .I mean, it was good for the genre. Jeremy Irons was good. Malkavic was awesome. The shade guy was STELLAR. The Arya sucked. Eragon sucked. I think I'm REALLY going to like Murtagh in the next movie. . .oh my. . .

But the acting was adequate. . .the screenwriter should be fired and never work again. The director should be locked up in a steel crate for the next ten years.

If you have not read the book, go see the movie. It was a good movie and I enjoyed it. I did not read the whole book before seeing the movie and I think that was a good thing.

I really have not gotten to into this series of books because it reminds me of a watered down version of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series and Harry Potter. Just my opinion.
