Alright I am currently setting on a beach in oceanside, California visiting a close friend of mine who has recently been married and Joined the Marines. He and his wife have offered me there spare bedroom for a tiny bit of rent since they already have there bills paid by uncle sam. I have been trying to come up with enough reasons to move or stay. Can any of you older and much more enlightened residents of Fort Wayne think of Compelling reasons to stay in the Fort. If It helps I am a 21 year old college student / full time welder, that is single and has no kids.

Upsides of Indiana - (told to me by California transplants to Indiana):
•Real estate costs - what buys a mansion in Indiana buys a dump in
CA. You will probably never be able to buy a house in CA working as
a welder.
• Friendliness - People in CA are harder to get to know, are much less
generous, just plain unfriendly, and are more private than Indiana
folk.
• Less travel time to get where you need to go.
•Indiana is less of a intrusive nanny state than CA, though that is
changing
Downsides:
•About 200 frickin' days of overcast a year!
•Snow, Snow, Snow, and more frickin' snow!
•Resistance to new ideas. License plates should say '1965 is going to
be a good year in Indiana.'

Young college student and nothing to tie you down?
Transfer to a college out there for a year. If you don't like it, you can always come back. It's better that than to be middle aged with 2.5 kids and wonder "what if..."
