Monitor display geek help

So I got this new bitchin' Dell with a wide screen monitor.
My concern is that it horizontally stretches images a bit. When I create graphics I fear that they will look a bit 'thin' on a traditional monitor.
I cant seem to find a way to tighten the image a bit horizontally to give me a more accurate WYSIWYG image. I have tried all the obvious stuff with no help
Thoughts?

It all comes down to having the proper resolution settings...if those are proportionate on your monitor it will be fine on a regular (non-WS) monitor...
There are usually a few selections that are a slight adjustment one way or another on there that you will need to select and get the best fit for that particular WS...
I am running 1360x1024x32 (Aero) and everything is VERY nice...it is only a small 19"WS, but the resolution works across the board...
Vista or XP? Vista has a few great tutorials built in for this stuff also...

Yeah, it comes down to your resolution...and therefore your video card. If it doesn't have updated drivers, you may not be able to get the correct resolution. What kind of video card do you have?

I got it 'fixed'
The optimum resolution made internet text a bit too small until I changed the font parameters.
The correct resolution corrected the stretching and WYSIWYG issues too
Thanks for the suggestions

Did you have to grab a new driver or were you just able to select a different resolution? Just curious.

Selected a new resolution, then changed font parameters.
The text size on FWM is still a bit small, but the resolution kicks ass so there lies the give/take.
