I have been active in the Fort Wayne music scene for over 8 years as a musician, event coordinator, promoter, and more.  In those years I have played for several local bands, shared stages with great local and national talent, put on events big and small, and worked with many local not for profit organizations.

I started at FortWayneMusic.com as a standard user promoting my (now defunct) organization “FortSAC” (Fort Wayne Starving Artist Coalition).  I quickly realized the potential in the website and worked my way into the staff by befriending then staff members Matt Jericho (local radio DJ), Jeff Anderson (local promoter), and Chris Wallace (Owner of FWM).

In early 2008 I designed the current and much needed new layout for FortWayneMusic.com (with DB programming help from Garr).  Soon I took over as General Manager (a position I had honestly been wanting for years). Together with the staff I have made huge strides to make FWM the best source for local entertainment on the web.

I am a classically trained Pianist. Though I had studied Percussion instruments (Concert Band and Orchestra) through Middle and High School, I am a self taught Drummer (Kit), Guitarist, and Vocalist.  I have been writing solo material for over 10 years now, with a catalog of over 120 songs.  Currently, I drum for Pleasing Melani, a band which my brother and I created in 2004.

In Oct of 2003, one day after I received my degree in Digital Media from the University of Full Sail (in Orlando, FL) I welcomed my daughter Dinah Lilah into the world.  This year I have unofficially adopted (to keep the government out of it) my girlfriend’s daughter Madison Elizabeth.

At the moment I am a stay at home dad who works mainly from the house for my design business alanQuandt.com. I also promote and work for several of my family businesses, BarbaraQuandt.com, CarlQuandt.com, QuandtFamily.com, and more!

I love my family, music, arts, and this city.  I have and will dedicate my life to using my talents in order to help promote the music and arts community in Fort Wayne.  Please enjoy our site!

From radio to restaurant and back to music. I have a passion for music, especially the local scene, after spending a year on the air with local alternative station 96.3 The Edge as 'Danger Boy' with Doug St.John in the afternoon I left to pursue my dream of owning a restaurant. Shortly after opening the restaurant I felt the need to be in touch with radio, local music, and everything I loved about this 'scene', but with long hours and early mornings it was tough to make it out to shows like I had in the past. A solution was brewing.

My other passion in life is computers and had recently had high speed DSL installed in my home. One night while working on some things in my office an interesting idea came to me...internet radio on a local level. I immediately began researching and digging on the web. A few hours later I had figured out some simple web hosting and using Shoutcast was able to stream a copy of a local CD that I had. The next steps and the ones that bring us here are reserving the name 'FortWayneMusic.com' from an online registrar and building a simple website that people could use to access my large collection of local music. Suddenly I was back in radio and loving every minute of it. Many years of hard work, outages, up and downs, months of stagnation, and many many staff members later...here we are.

This site is a vision. A resource, on a local level, for hardworking musicians that have entertained me countless times. A way to pay them back for everything they have given me. Enjoy...

I started being involved with music at a very early age and received what most people would call a classical vocal training. I was in All-City choir, All-State Choir, Concert Choir, Swing Choir, Jazz Choir, and then when I was 14, my gonads descended and I discovered the grunge era. By the time I was 19, I was taking lessons using my younger brother's guitar and saving up Pizza Delivery tips to buy my own, brand-new Lotus! After about 12 lessons, I started learning my own way and months later my high school buds and I created a band called BroomPenny.

It was BroomPenny's inclusion on the original FortWayneMusic.com internet radio station that got me involved. I heard about it from the guys in Black Tooth Grin and gave a listen. Eventually I joined the forums, participated, and then the two dudes (whom I won't name) just up and left and the site was in the lurch. I stepped in with several others to get something, anything, up soon. Then, I disappeared from the music scene for nearly a year. When I came back with a band (RuleSeven) I started helping the site again and I've been heavily involved in the structure, scripting, and data aspects of the site ever since!

Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to visit the messageboards, band pages, and other great areas of the site!
